Arief Budiman is retiring after ten years of service at the University of Melbourne as the Foundation Professor in Indonesian. Professor Budiman is a scholar as well as social commentator on Indonesian affairs, with a long-standing interest in political rights, political responsibilities and social harmony in Indonesia. In this lecture he will reflect on a key theme in his research, teaching and career as an activist.
